How to Build a Skin Care Routine

Your skin is hugely affected by your daily habits. Skin is not simply DNA‌ dependent, it’s all about your daily routine. So, instead of leaving skincare on genetics, you need to build a skincare routine in order to have smooth and healthy skin.

Skin is the largest organ of your body and skincare routine consists of three main steps.

  • Cleansing — Washing your face.
  • Toning — Balancing the skin.
  • Moisturizing — Hydrating and softening the skin.

The main objective of a skin-care routine is to tune up your complexion so it’s functioning at its best, and also troubleshoot or target any areas you want to work on. You need to make these three steps part of your daily routine.

1. Cleansing

Our skin faces environmental pollutants, dirt and other factors each day. So that needs to be removed. You need to wash your skin twice a day, morning and night, to avoid clogged pores, dullness and acne.

Find Your Facial Cleanser

There are tons of facial cleansers available out there but you need to figure out the right formula that cleanses your skin without stripping essential, healthy oils. You can find best skin cleansers from La Mer, an iconic and luxury skincare brand.

2. Toning

You need to tone your skin regularly for youthful and rejuvenated. Because of the factors like age and other things like weather, pollution and other harmful things in the atmosphere, the face and other body parts starts sagging and start showing wrinkles.

Experts recommend toners to clean the oil from the skin. Skin toning lotions help in freshening of the skin and removal of any residual cleanser. A good toner is also helpful in restoring the natural pH level of the skin. Toning makes your skin clean, clear and ready to be hydrated.

Methods of toning

There are two types of skin toners available in the market and this is how you should use them.

Alcohol-based: These are commercially produced by a number of cosmetic companies and you can find them in any beauty shop.

Herbal skin tonics: Herbal skin tonics contain rose, honey or mint, also available in the market.

You should know that if your skin is extremely dry and shows tendencies for other more severe skin problems, toning could pose a threat. In such circumstances, you should skip toning altogether. You need to wait until your skin has improved and you feel it’s safe to return it to your dry skincare program.

On the other hand, alcohol-based astringents are usually recommended for oily skins. If you feel there is a burning sensation, you need to immediately discontinue and switch over to herbal skin toner.

3. Moisturizing

The main use and benefit of a moisturizer is to hydrate and soften the skin. Most of the moisturizers assist in preventing water loss through the outer layers of skin. These moisturizers can also complement the naturally found protective oils and other building blocks within the skin, such as ceramides.

There are many moisturizing creams available in the market. But which one is best for your skin? It is mostly a matter of personal preferences. If your skin has any special condition then you should consult a dermatologist before using any skincare product.
