Online shopping can really be tempting. But before you indulge in the online shopping world, take a look at the pros and cons first.
Shopping online is indeed tempting. You no longer have to leave the comforts of your home in order to shop for your favorite clothing brand and even shop for groceries! But before venturing out into the online shopping world, take a look at the pros and cons of shopping online and see if online shopping is for you.
Advantages of Online Shopping
As I have mentioned earlier, you no longer have to leave the comforts of your home. No more wasting gas in traffic and wasting time finding a parking space. You are also free from aggressive salespeople trying to force you to buy something. In an online store, it’s only you and the catalog of products, free from the annoying crowd and tired legs. Also, online stores never close; you can scan for products even at 3 o’clock in the morning. There is more time finding products with less effort.
There are a lot of products online available at CVV shop that are also not available in a brick and mortar shop. Shopping online also saves you money because these stores do not have a physical place to rent. The “space” that they rent is only in cyberspace, which costs a lot cheaper than having a physical store. It is also very easy to compare product prices from one store to another because you can do it all in just clicks.
Disadvantages of Online Shopping
One of the reasons why people won’t shop online is the inability to physically assess the product. You cannot see if the item you are about to buy has a rip, a tear, or doesn’t meet the “feel” that you are looking for. Another reason is some people consider the searching, the fatigue, the thrill of finding something out of the ordinary after almost hours of searching through different stores, as part of the shopping experience. However, these are no longer experienced in online stores where you just type in the search box the product you’re looking for and click “buy”.
Another disadvantage of online shopping is you cannot try or test out the product before you buy it. Especially for products such as electronics, clothes, and shoes, there is no way of knowing how clothes and shoes fit you by shopping online. It will be a hassle to send the item back just in case it does not meet your requirements.
One of the concerns of online shoppers is their privacy. They do not feel safe entering their personal information in their credit cards online with the fear of it getting stolen. Experts say shopping cart systems are encrypted with an algorithm that encodes your information. Even if hackers get a hold of these codes, they cannot decode it. It’s as if they are reading an alien language.
However, it is very hard to hack an encrypted site. You can see if the shopping cart system is secure if it has “https” in its URL and a padlock icon in your browser (lower right area for Firefox users). Also, experts said that most shopping cart systems are taken care of by Paypal, which is a very safe way of purchasing items online.
Experts also warn online shoppers on some products that really cheap, and some even free, but have a very high shipping rate. A tip from them is to see the total price of the product inclusive of the shipping rate before you buy it, not only the price of the product itself. Also, take advantage of flat shipping rates and even some shops that offer free shipping.
